You can most certainly help.  The todo list needs to be updated, but
not tonight.  There is sparse documentation available on the versioning
algorithms, see:

But I think you would need more than this to know what we have in mind
as an implementation strategy.  Hopefully I will be able to prepare a
suitably informative post on that subject in the next week or two.

I would suggest starting with something more straightforward.  For
example, we need endian conversions in various places, including in the
btree indexing code.  Taking on a task like this can be a good way to
get to know the code base, before attempting something more ambitious.

We are also interested in finding volunteers to maintain the Fuse port,
because the original authors will go back to school pretty soon.

At the moment, people are working on whatever interests them.
